The devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus has deep roots in the Church’s history, beginning with the visions granted to Sister Mary of St. Peter, a Carmelite nun of the 19th century. Chosen by Jesus Himself, she was entrusted with a mission to honor His Holy Face as a means of reparation for blasphemy, the profanation of Sundays, and violations of the first three Commandments. In her encounters, Christ revealed: “My Holy Face is the reflection of my sufferings and my glory. Those who venerate it shall receive in abundance my blessings and graces.”

Responding to this profound call, Sister Mary devoted her life to spreading this devotion, and in 1885, Pope Leo XIII established the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face, granting indulgences and privileges to encourage the faithful in this work of reparation. This devotion has since become a spiritual weapon against atheism, secularism, and communism, uniting countless souls in prayer and atonement. On October 16, we invite you to join us in honoring the Holy Face of Jesus—the face scourged for our sins—through prayer and devotion. Together, we will pray the Holy Face Novena, Chaplet, and Litany, imploring His mercy, blessings, and protection in our times.
